Forest School Uniform

Pennies Forest School colours are yellow and navy so that children can safely be seen in the forest during all seasons. Our recommended uniform is a yellow rain and windproof jacket and navy waterproof dungarees.

This can be purchased here

However, we understand that the cost of living is increasing so our uniform is only a recommendation, other coloured waterproof clothing is acceptable but please make sure that your child is dressed in colours that will be easily visible in a forest setting.

We've split the Forest School Uniform into the four seasons of the year to make it easier for families to know what their child should have and when.

Please click on the seasons below to view the uniform for that time of the year.
Spring Uniform
A base layer
Thermal top and bottoms, alternatively children can wear long or short sleeve t-shirts, leggings or tights. If possible avoid cotton as it retains moisture, polyester or polypropylene are ideal. A base layer helps to insulate the body to retain heat.

A mid layer
A thin fleece or jumper. A mid layer helps to trap warm air between the different layers.

An Insulation layer
A thick fleece, jumper or coat. The insulation layer provides extra warmth and insulation on those colder days, the layer must allow movement and fit comfortably over the mid layer.

Waterproof layer
Waterproof raincoat, coat and bottoms The waterproof layer stops the children’s inner layers from becoming wet. It also helps keep clothes underneath clean!

During the winter months all children must have all of the layers of clothing, gloves and hats on arrival as there is a risk of frostbite if it's below zero without the right clothing.

Children must attend forest school with their own backpack which contains a water bottle and spare clothes inside.
